Małe Solisko (2336 m a.s.l.) is one of the most striking peaks of the Solisko Ridge in the High Tatras — a sharp, commanding summit that catches the eye of every hiker passing through Furkotná or Mlynická Valley. If you're looking for something beyond the beaten tourist path, this is a place worth knowing about.

The peak sits between Solisko Notch and Vysoká Ľavka, with Furkotná Valley on its left and Mlynická Valley on its right when viewed from the southeast. The terrain is rugged and rocky, demanding full attention and solid mountain experience. In winter the surroundings turn into an icy world with cornices and avalanche hazards; in summer the sun-warmed rock and sweeping Tatra panorama make every effort worthwhile.

• There is no marked tourist trail leading to Małe Solisko — the ascent is possible only with a licensed mountain guide or for experienced climbers via various climbing routes.

A fun historical note: on 18 September 1907, Dr Alfred Martin soloed the peak from the southeast — such an impressive feat at the time that the Hungarian Carpathian Society proposed naming it 'Martin's Tower'. The name never stuck, but the story lives on.
