Loreakopf is a 2471 m peak rising directly above the Fernpass in the Lechtal Alps of Tyrol, Austria. It offers a rewarding scramble for anyone wanting real alpine terrain without needing technical climbing gear.

From the summit, hikers are treated to views of the Heiterwand massif to the south and a long, four-kilometre ridge stretching north toward the Roter Stein. The terrain is rocky and demands sure footing, but it rewards visitors with a panorama typical of the eastern edge of the Lechtal Alps. In summer the ridge walk feels open and exposed, while in shoulder seasons the upper sections can hold ice, so care is needed.

How to reach the summit

• Fernpass — via the unmanned Loreahütte and the Loreascharte saddle, then along the south ridge to the top; the route requires a good head for heights and sure footing, with individual scrambling sections rated grade I (UIAA)
• Mitteregg (Berwang) — via the Loregghütte to the Loreascharte, joining the same final approach to the summit

• The Loreahütte is unmanned and offers no food or overnight accommodation

The peak is also known as Loreaspitze. Its first documented ascent took place in 1840, when Saxon geologist Karl Sander climbed it for scientific research — via essentially the same route hikers follow today.
