Krátka (2,375 m a.s.l.) is a massive, complex peak in the High Tatras of Slovakia, rising above the popular resort of Štrbské Pleso along the Kriváň ridge. It is a place that belongs to climbers rather than casual hikers — wild, unmarked and wonderfully untamed. Those who make it to the top are rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views and genuine mountain solitude.

The peak has three summits: Western, Middle (the main one) and Eastern. The ridge running southward from Krátka forms the spectacular Jamský hrebeň (Jam Ridge), packed with rock towers including the Great Jamská Tower, the Jamská Teeth and various smaller spires. The terrain drops sharply to the north into the Nefcerka valley with the Lower Terianske Lake, to the southwest into the Kriváň Hollow and to the southeast into the Suchá Dolina (Dry Valley). On a clear day the summit offers views of countless High Tatras peaks, the Volovské vrchy hills, the Spiš-Gemer Karst, the Low Tatras, Kozie chrbty and parts of the Orava Beskids.

• There is no marked hiking trail to Krátka — the peak is accessible only via mountaineering routes. The first ascent was made in 1903 by K. Englisch and P. Spitzkopf from Suchá Dolina via the Upper Jamská Pass (grade I).
• Climbing routes up to grade V+ lead to the towers of the Jamský ridge (notably the Middle Jamská Tower).

• The summit lies within national nature reserves and the Tatra National Park (TANAP). No marked tourist trail exists — only qualified climbers should attempt this peak, in accordance with TANAP regulations.
• The tourist trail that once led into the Kriváň Hollow was officially closed in 1980.

The first winter ascent of Krátka was recorded as early as 1906, made by P. Havaš Horníček — a testament to the long and bold alpinist history of the High Tatras.
