Koziniec is a modest but atmospheric hill in the eastern part of the Jelenia Góra Basin — the highest point of the Dziwiszów Hills, hiding the ruins of a medieval castle and a mysterious granite rock group on its slopes. It's a great spot for those who like combining an easy walk with a touch of history.

The summit forms a gentle, broad dome with clearly defined slopes, making it easy to spot from afar against the backdrop of taller Sudeten peaks. The lower slopes are covered with coniferous forest giving way to beech higher up, while below the forest line wild meadows stretch out. In summer it's a quiet, green retreat, in autumn the beech woods glow with color, and in winter the slopes get a charming dusting of snow. From the viewpoint at the top, a panorama opens up over the surrounding villages and mountain ranges.

• From Dąbrowica — at the south-eastern foot of the hill, a short and easy approach
• Also approachable from the Grabary side, between which and Dąbrowica the hill is located

• The marked Piast Castles Trail does not actually cross the summit, despite the nearby castle ruins
• Only stairs and faint foundation traces remain of the steel viewing tower built 1880–1906 — the tower itself is long gone
• On the south-eastern slope, a few dozen meters below the top, there's an interesting granite rock formation
• On the western slope you'll find modest ruins of a medieval castle (the so-called Bolko's Castle), with 14th-century wall fragments and remains of cellars

According to tradition, the castle on Koziniec was captured and destroyed by the Hussites in 1428 — walking today among the quiet meadows and forest, it's hard to imagine such a turbulent past.
