Kopiniec (707 m a.s.l.) is a quiet forested summit in the Góry Kamienne range of the Central Sudetes — and one of the few peaks where a single step takes you from Poland into the Czech Republic. The state border runs right across the top, making it a genuinely special spot for anyone who loves the idea of hiking between two countries.

The entire hill is blanketed in lower-montane spruce forest, giving it a peaceful, enclosed character. There are no sweeping open panoramas from the summit, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it — deep green in summer, fiery gold in autumn, and hushed under snow in winter. The mountain is built from Permian quartz porphyries and tuffites, volcanic rocks that give the area an interesting geological flavour.

• From the Czech side: blue trail from Meziměstí towards Broumov, passing below the summit — difficulty: easy

• The Polish-Czech state border crosses the summit — free to cross within the Schengen Area.
• The Czech south-western part of the hill lies within the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area — nature protection rules apply on that side.
• The green border trail links Tłumaczów with Przełęcz Okraj, following the border ridge the whole way.

Interestingly, the peak carries a different name on each side of the border — 'Kropiwiec' in Czech and once known as 'Steinhügel' or 'Brods Berg' in German — each name a small window into the layered history of this borderland mountain.
