Kopany is a modest but charming peak on a side ridge of the Błatnia Range in the Silesian Beskids. It's the perfect spot for hikers seeking a peaceful walk with rewarding views, away from the crowds of the main Beskid trails.

The summit and its slopes are covered in forest, though a clearing once ran along the ridge — today slowly being reclaimed by trees. The western slopes of Kopany descend toward the Wysoki Stream, while the eastern slopes drop down to Lake Wapienickie, above which lies the large Jaworzyna nature reserve. From the summit itself, you'll enjoy lovely views over the Wapienica Valley and neighbouring peaks — Cyberniok, Stołów, and Trzy Kopce Wiślańskie. In spring and summer the forest is full of life, autumn brings striking colours, and winter offers quiet solitude away from the noise.

How to reach the summit

• Wapienica Górna / Lake Wapienickie — blue trail, approx. 2:30 hrs towards Błatnia (total route 8.2 km), difficulty: moderate
• From the loop behind the dam — a steep path leading directly to the summit, difficulty: demanding due to the steep ascent

Practical information

• The ridge of Kopany marks the border between the village of Jaworze and the city of Bielsko-Biała
• The eastern slopes hold the Jaworzyna nature reserve — stick to the marked trail out of respect for the protected area

Fun fact: the old clearing along the ridge of Kopany is gradually disappearing under encroaching forest, giving the peak a slightly different character with each passing generation of hikers.
