Kobyla is a fully forested peak forming the southernmost spur of the Wolf Ridge, part of the Krkonoše foothills. It's a quiet, off-the-beaten-path summit for hikers who enjoy wandering through deep woods rather than chasing panoramic viewpoints.

The gentle southern slopes rise straight from the boundary of the Krkonoše National Park, right next to the scattered houses of Jestřabí v Krkonoších. To the east the terrain drops toward Horní Vítkovice, while to the northwest it falls sharply into the valley of the Vejpálický stream, home to the tiny village of Stromkovice. Since the summit is entirely covered by forest, there's no sweeping view from the top itself — instead you get a peaceful, shaded walk that feels especially good in spring and autumn when the woods change color.

How to reach the summit

• From the 'Vurmovka' junction on the yellow-marked Jestřabí – Vítkovice trail, follow the field path heading northwest — easy walk

Practical information

• No official marked trail leads directly to the summit
• The top holds a basic trigonometric survey point (No. 18)
• On the northern slope above Stromkovice you'll find a Way of the Cross and a small chapel of the Virgin Mary by a spring said to have healing water; pilgrimages have been held there since 1990, on May 1st and the first Sunday after August 15th
• Nearby is the grass airfield at Jestřabí, popular with visitors for its wide views and, in winter, a good spot for snowkiting

The chapel was restored in 2007, and locals still speak fondly of the healing spring hidden in the woods below the summit.
