Klenovský Vepor (1,338 m a.s.l.) is a mighty, forest-clad summit rising above the village of Klenovec in the Veporské vrchy range of central Slovakia — a place where ancient mixed woodland, volcanic geology and well-marked trails come together to offer a wonderfully unspoilt mountain experience. Its entire massif is protected as a National Nature Reserve, so the sense of wilderness here is very real.

The summit itself is covered in a dense spruce-beech-fir forest that wraps the peak in a timeless, primeval atmosphere. While the trees prevent sweeping views from the very top, clearings and spots with thinner vegetation reward you with vistas of the surrounding Veporské vrchy peaks, the ridges of both the Low and High Tatras, the Slovak Karst, the Stolické vrchy hills, Poľana and the border ranges of northern Hungary. In autumn the beech trees erupt in gold and amber; in spring the forest hums with birdsong. The terrain is moderate — well-suited for experienced hikers looking for a full day out in nature.

• The summit and most of the massif lie within the Klenovský Vepor National Nature Reserve — please respect all nature protection rules.
• A mountain hut sits on the south-eastern slope and can serve as a rest or overnight stop.
• The red-marked Rudná magistrála long-distance trail crosses the summit, making it easy to combine with longer ridge walks.

Geologically, Klenovský Vepor is composed of pyroxene andesites — a lava flow separated by erosion, most likely originating from an ancient volcanic centre near Tisovec, giving the mountain a fascinating volcanic backstory.
