Kamienna (1,201 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, border summit along the main ridge of the Western Bieszczady, sitting right on the Polish-Slovak state border between Krzemieniec and Hrubki. It rewards hikers with an authentic sense of wilderness that is increasingly hard to find elsewhere in Central Europe.

The landscape here is classic Bieszczady highland — open ridges, sweeping views and a deep stillness broken only by the wind. The southern slopes descend into the valley of the Stužicka rieka stream and are protected within the Slovak Stužíca nature reserve, one of the finest remnants of primeval Carpathian forest. The northern flanks drop toward the upper Solinka valley on the Polish side. Summer brings clear panoramas across the borderland, while autumn turns the ridge into a palette of gold and rust — the most popular season for hiking here.

• From Wielka Rawka — red main trail (Polish side), route: Wielka Rawka – Krzemieniec – Kamienna; ridge walk, moderate difficulty.
• From Nová Sedlica (Slovakia) — Slovak yellow trail running along the southern slope of Kamienna via Krzemieniec; moderate difficulty.

• The summit sits exactly on the Polish-Slovak state border — both trails cross the international boundary.
• The Slovak trail from Nová Sedlica passes through the Stužíca nature reserve — stay on the marked path.

Look out for bird cherry (Prunus mahaleb) growing at around 1,150 m near the border — an exceptionally rare species in Poland and a small botanical highlight of this ridge.
