Kamenec (1239 m a.s.l.) is a remote and wild peak tucked away in the western Krkonoše (Giant Mountains), just 3.5 km northeast of Harrachov and about 5 km southwest of Szklarska Poręba. It is the kind of place that feels genuinely off the beaten track — sparse, wind-damaged spruce forest, boggy summit plateaus, and a deep sense of solitude on the Czech-Polish border ridge.

The summit area is covered with scattered, partially damaged spruce stands and numerous peat bogs in the waterlogged upper sections, giving Kamenec a raw, almost elemental character. The surrounding landscape is quintessentially Sudeten — mist-shrouded and moody in autumn and winter, quietly beautiful in summer when the bogs are alive with bog cotton and sundew. The ridge path along the border nearby offers glimpses into both countries.

Kamenec is a subsidiary summit of Luboch, lying 1 km to its west.

• There is no marked trail to the summit. The only approach is an unmarked path branching off the border ridge path in the saddle between Luboch and Žlabský vrch.

• Important: the summit lies within Zone I of KRNAP (Krkonoše National Park, Czech side), meaning entry to this path and the summit is legally prohibited. The peak is effectively closed to visitors.

The mountain's German name, 'Steindlberg', survives on old Sudeten maps and reflects the region's long German-speaking heritage before the post-war population changes.
