Standing at 1122 metres above sea level, Jizera is the second highest peak in the Czech part of the Jizera Mountains and the highest point of the entire Hejnice Ridge. What makes it truly special is the combination of a dramatic granite summit rock with far-reaching views and a surrounding ancient spruce forest that feels genuinely untouched.

The top is crowned by a massive, heavily fractured porphyritic granite rock — a tor shaped over millennia by deep weathering and glacial frost action. It has been made accessible to visitors and rewards you with a wide panoramic view over the surrounding landscape. The nature reserve 'Prales Jizera', covering over 92 hectares around the summit above 1000 m, protects the remnants of the original spruce stands. Whether you visit in summer, when the forest is lush and cool, or in winter, when frost clings to the trees and silence wraps around you, the atmosphere here is unlike anything in the lowlands.

• Smědava (parking, bus stop, restaurant) — yellow trail, approx. 3 km to the summit, via the Pod Jizerou junction; moderate difficulty
• From the Pod Jizerou junction, a yellow-marked side trail branches off the main red tourist route — this is the only officially marked path to the top

• The summit lies within the 'Prales Jizera' nature reserve — an unmarked path from the west-southwest (from Kasárenská road) is closed to visitors for nature protection reasons
• Access is only permitted via the official yellow-marked trail from Pod Jizerou junction, situated between Smědava and the Na Kneipě junction

A curious fact: despite sharing the same name, Jizera peak is not the direct source of the Jizera River that gave the whole mountain range its name. It sits on the main European watershed, feeding the Smědá river to the north and the Desná to the south.
