Jaworz is the highest peak of the Łososina Range in the Beskid Wyspowy mountains, once known as Patria after the wooden observation tower that used to crown its summit. Today it's a peak that blends sweeping mountain views with local legends of hidden robber caves.

The eastern side of Jaworz has a distinctive steep, dome-shaped top visible from afar. The summit itself is forested, but the eastern slopes remain open, with farmland stretching up to about 820 m — creating a striking contrast between cultivated fields and forest. In clear weather, especially in autumn and spring, the views from the tower stretch as far as the Tatras and Pieniny mountains, making every season here worthwhile for photographers and hikers alike.

• From Limanowa via Sałasz Wschodni — hiking time 3:10 h, total ascent 670 m, moderate difficulty
• From Laskowa, then east on the blue trail — hiking time 4:10 h, total ascent 670 m
• From Pisarzowa, then east on the blue trail — hiking time 3:05 h, total ascent 540 m
• From Łososina Górna via Sałasz, then east on the blue trail — hiking time 3:40 h, total ascent 640 m
• From Rożnów Lake (Tęgoborze-Przełom) — hiking time 3:30 h, total ascent 750 m

Practical information

• At about 800 m there's a wooden observation tower roughly 20 m tall, with a campsite, covered grill area and shelter nearby
• From the tower you can see Rożnów Lake, Nowy Sącz, the Beskid Niski, Beskid Sądecki, and on very clear days the Pieniny and Belianske Tatras
• On the north-eastern slope, at about 870 m, lies the partly collapsed Jaworz Cave (also called the Robbers' Cave) — 14 m long and 5 m deep

Local legend says the cave once sheltered robbers, and that mysterious underground drafts would extinguish candles carried inside. During World War II the surrounding forests hosted Polish Home Army partisans, and nearby Cuprówka hill hosts an annual commemorative mass in their honour.
