Hromovka is a compact but eye-catching spur of Přední Planina mountain, rising right above Špindlerův Mlýn in the heart of the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). It has no classic summit of its own, yet from several angles it looks like a standalone peak — its steep, over-300-metre slopes make quite an impression from the valley below.

Here spruce forest gives way to a grassy enclave dotted with mountain huts, and the terrain offers open views over the surrounding ridges and the Labská reservoir. In winter, this is the pulsing heart of the Špindlerův Mlýn ski resort, its slopes crisscrossed by lifts and pistes; in summer, calm returns, broken only by the murmur of small streams feeding the Elbe river. The mood shifts completely with the seasons — from lift-lines and skiers to quiet forest tracks.

How to reach the summit

• Špindlerův Mlýn — green trail no. 4206 towards Pec pod Sněžkou, moderate climb, approx. 30–40 minutes
• From the west, follow blue trail no. 1804 or yellow trail no. 7201 from Špindlerův Mlýn to Vrchlabí, then take the forest track known as 'Telefonka' up towards Přední Planina

Practical information

• The upper station of the Hromovka cable car sits right near the summit, operating only in winter
• The area lies on the border of the Krkonoše National Park and its buffer zone
• Numerous ski lifts cover the slopes — in winter, watch for pistes crossing hiking paths

The name Hromovka (German: Tannenstein) belongs to a hill without a true summit, yet one with real character and views worth the short climb.
