Grzybowiec (750 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of a sprawling massif in the north-western part of the Karkonosze Foothills — a quiet yet characterful summit that rewards visitors with granite rock formations, deep forest atmosphere and a surprising slice of European history right at the top. If you are looking for a relaxed hike away from the busy main Karkonosze trails, this is a gem worth discovering.

The massif fans out into five distinct ridges from the summit, encircling the towns of Piechowice, Sobieszów, Jagniątków, Michałowice and Szklarska Poręba Dolna. The entire terrain is built from Karkonosze granite, and rocky outcrops appear both near the summit and scattered across all the ridges, giving the landscape a pleasantly rugged feel. Spring brings fresh greenery to the forest paths, summer offers cool shade, and autumn turns the hillsides into a canvas of gold and rust — every season has something to offer here.
