Gąsienicowa Turnia (2280 m a.s.l.) is a rugged, four-topped rocky ridge forming part of the eastern crest of Świnica in the High Tatras. Rising above the beautiful Gąsienicowa Valley, it may not be the most prominent peak in the range, but its raw alpine character and dramatic position make it a compelling sight for anyone exploring the Tatras.

The northern slopes drop steeply into the Mylna Kotlinka hollow at the upper level of Gąsienicowa Valley, while the southern faces plunge toward the glacial cirque of Dolinka pod Kołem, part of the upper tier of the Valley of Five Polish Lakes. Both sides feature near-vertical rock walls laced with climbing routes, drawing alpinists season after season. In summer the high-altitude flora softens the rocky scene, and in autumn the dwarf pine turns golden against the grey limestone. Winter transforms the area into serious mountain terrain demanding full alpine experience.

• From Zawrat or Kasprowy Wierch — red trail running along the Świnica ridge. The section from Zawrat toward Świnica is one-directional. Difficulty: demanding, experienced hikers only.

• The red trail section between Zawrat and Świnica is one-way only — it must be walked in the direction from Zawrat toward Świnica, not the reverse.
• The terrain above the trail near the actual summits is climbing terrain, not a tourist route.
• Two small caves — Świnicka Koleba and Świnicka Koleba Niżnia — are located near the summits.

Keep an eye out for 'ukwap karpacki' (Homogyne alpina subsp. carpathica), a rare plant found in Poland exclusively in the Tatras and only at a handful of sites — Gąsienicowa Turnia is one of them.
