Frčkov (1,586 m a.s.l.) is the second highest peak in the Veľká Fatra range — and one of its most rewarding summits. Its open, treeless top offers sweeping views in almost every direction, making it a favourite spot for anyone hiking the main ridge. If you want to experience the wild, open heart of Slovak mountain country, Frčkov delivers.

The peak sits in the central and most scenic part of Veľká Fatra, within the Hôľna Fatra sub-range. To the north it neighbours the range's highest point, Ostredok (1,596 m); to the south the ridge continues toward the Krížna massif (1,574 m). The western slopes drop into Dedošova Valley, the eastern ones into Suchá Valley. From the grassy summit plateau you can pick out the Malá Fatra, parts of the High and Low Tatras, Poľana, Vtáčnik and even Lysá hora in Moravia. In summer the hilltop meadows are lush and bright; autumn paints them gold; in winter the ridge becomes a pristine snowscape popular with ski tourers.

• The only marked trail crossing the summit is the Veľkofatranská magistrála (red). There is no direct trail from the valleys — you must approach via Ostredok or Krížna.
