Dwernik Kamień (1004 m a.s.l.) is one of those Bieszczady peaks that quietly wins you over — rocky ridges, an open meadow near the top, and sweeping views that make the climb absolutely worth it. If you are looking for a rewarding hike away from the crowds, this is a brilliant choice.

The summit is made up of three parallel rocky ridges with steep slopes, rising to 992, 1004 and 994 m respectively from south to north. The central and southern tops feature sandstone outcrops that give the place a rugged, wild feel. From the meadow near the highest point you can take in a wide panorama to the south, east and west — Połonina Caryńska, Połonina Wetlińska, Tarnica and Łopiennik all come into view. A shorter ridge to the north leads to the sub-summit of Magura (887 m). Whether you visit in spring green or autumn gold, the atmosphere up here is hard to beat.

• Zatwarnica — red-marked nature and history trail 'Przysłup Caryński – Krywe n. Sanem' leads directly to the central rocky top; the green-marked 'Hylaty' trail from Zatwarnica meets the junction just below the summit.
• Red cycling route: Zatwarnica – summit – Przełęcz Nasiczniańska – Nasiczne – Przysłup Caryński – Bereżki.
• Blue cycling route: Zatwarnica – south-eastern slopes – Nasiczne – Dwernik.

• Well-preserved World War I trenches are scattered across the slopes — keep an eye out as you walk.
• The northern top contains the remains of a WWI military cemetery with casualties from 1915.
• The peak lies within or on the buffer zone of Bieszczady National Park — stick to marked trails at all times.

Local legend says that outlaws once kept stolen cattle and horses in a stable at the col below the highest ridge, ready to be smuggled across to Hungary for sale — a reminder that these mountains have always had stories to tell.
