Duże Jasło (1,153 m a.s.l.) is one of those Bieszczady summits that truly rewards the effort — open clearings near the top offer panoramic views in every direction, stretching all the way to Slovakia. Wild, unspoiled and richly forested, this peak is a highlight of the Western Bieszczady range.

The slopes are draped in magnificent Carpathian beech forests and mixed beech-fir woodland, much of it old-growth. Near the summit, open glades — likely shaped by past human activity — give way to sweeping vistas. The area is a stronghold for some of Europe's most iconic wildlife: wolves, brown bears, lynx and capercaillie all call this corner of the Carpathians home. A geodetic tower with a summit marker stands at the top.

• The summit lies within the Ciśniańsko-Wetlińskie Landscape Park and the buffer zone of Bieszczady National Park — stay on marked trails at all times.
• The area is protected under the Natura 2000 network (Bieszczady PLC 180001) and forms part of the Carpathian ecological corridor.

The mountain was historically known as 'Jasiel' or 'Wasiel' — old names that hint at the Lemko cultural heritage woven into these hills. Pair that with some of the wildest nature in Central Europe and you have a hike that stays with you long after you return to the valley.
