Dračí vrch (676 m a.s.l.) is a modest but captivating peak in the western Jizera Mountains, famous for its rocky lookout known as Dračí kámen (Dragon Rock). It's a place where legend and adventure meet — and hikers have been climbing here for over a century.

The approach winds through quiet, dense forest typical of the Jizera Mountains, building anticipation before you reach the summit reward: a rocky viewing platform offering a glimpse of Ještěd on one side and the nearby Kateřinský ridge with its distinctive Brdo peak on the other. The forest here feels alive in spring and summer, glows with color in autumn, and turns peacefully quiet under snow in winter — though the rock steps can get slippery then.

How to reach the summit

• From the village of Fojtka (north) — green trail, approx. 2.5 km, moderate difficulty, passes a rare yew tree site 'Pod Dračí skálou'
• From the Liberec district of Radčice — green trail, approx. 2.5 km, joins other routes at the saddle below the peak
• From the Liberec district of Kateřinky — blue trail, approx. 2 km, the steepest and most direct climb

The peak's name comes from a local legend about a dragon that demanded a maiden sacrifice from villagers — until it was wounded by a yew-wood arrow and, in agony, clawed the rock into its present shape.
