Dračí štít (2523 m a.s.l.) is one of the crown jewels of the High Tatras — part of the celebrated trio known as the 'Crown of Vysoká', alongside Ťažký štít and the double-summited Vysoká itself. Beloved by climbers for its solid rock and breathtaking views, this peak has a wild, legendary character all of its own.

The summit actually consists of two peaks: the north-western Malý Dračí štít (2518 m) and the higher south-eastern Veľký Dračí štít (2523 m), separated from Vysoká by the Vyšné Dračie sedlo pass (2490 m). A spectacular jagged ridge extends southward — the Dračí zuby (Dragon's Teeth), Ihla v Dračom, and the three Ošarpance — forming a dramatic, dragon-like skyline above the valleys. The peak sits entirely within Tatranský národný park, preserving its rugged, unspoiled character. In summer the warm granite beckons experienced climbers; in winter the snow- and ice-clad ridge becomes a serious alpine challenge.

• Dračí štít is a destination for experienced mountaineers only — the first ascent was made in 1905 by Alfred Martin with guide Ján Breuer Jr., via the south-eastern ridge from Nižná štrbina pod Ihlou, graded II-III. Proper climbing gear and experience are essential.
• The first winter ascent was completed in 1935 by Wiktor Ostrowski and Justyn Tymon Wojsznis — in winter conditions, full alpine equipment (ice axes, crampons) is required.

• The peak lies within Tatranský národný park — access is only permitted via approved climbing routes.
• This is a technical climbing objective, not a hiking trail. Minimum competence of UIAA grade II-III is required. In August 2018 two climbers died during descent, and in September 2018 a 19-year-old was found having set out without proper equipment — the mountain demands full respect.
• Adequate mountaineering insurance is strongly recommended before any attempt.

The name 'Dračí štít' means 'Dragon Peak' — and local legend holds that the jagged ridge stretching south from Vysoká is the petrified remains of a dragon who kidnapped a girl from Mengusovce, only to be cursed by her mother and turned to stone for eternity.
