Chyžky (1,342 m a.s.l.) sits quietly on the main ridge of the Veľká Fatra mountains in Slovakia, wedged between the higher summits of Ploská and Suchý vrch. It is a natural waypoint on the famous Velkofatranská magistrála long-distance trail, and the kind of place that rewards those who slow down and take in the surroundings. Unspoilt, peaceful, and genuinely off the tourist radar.

The mountain's north-western slopes descend into the Necpalská Valley, while the south-eastern side drops toward Zelená dolina (Green Valley). The ridge is open enough to offer sweeping views of the Veľká Fatra peaks. In autumn the beech forests turn golden and the whole ridge glows; in winter the snowbound panorama is spectacular, though proper mountain experience is advisable. Spring brings wildflowers and a freshness that makes the long walk along the magistrála particularly enjoyable.
