Chojniak (585 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, forested summit in the central part of the northern ridge of Czarny Las (Black Forest) within the Góry Kamienne range in the Central Sudetes — a perfect escape for hikers who crave peaceful woodland trails away from the crowds. It may not be the tallest peak around, but its relaxed character and genuine Sudeten charm make it well worth the walk.

The summit and most of the ridge are covered in forest, offering welcome shade in summer and a stunning palette of colours in autumn. Lower down, open meadows stretch out beneath the treeline, giving the landscape a gentle, pastoral feel. The ridge runs east–west, from the area of Kamienna Góra to the Witków–Czarny Bór road, with a side spur heading northeast towards the smaller hill of Młynarka — a nice option for extending your route. The Góry Kamienne area is refreshingly uncrowded, making it ideal for a relaxed half-day outing.

The hill is built from Carboniferous sandstones and conglomerates with coal seam inclusions — a fascinating geological reminder that this corner of the Sudetes has a far older and more dramatic story than its modest height might suggest.
