Černý vrch is the highest summit of the Soušská hornatina range within the Jizera Mountains — a wild, seldom-visited peak for hikers who love venturing off the beaten path. At 1029 m, it's not among the tallest 'thousanders' in the Jizera range, yet it ranks fourth in topographic prominence, separated from its parent peak Jizera by a striking 142-metre-deep saddle.

The surroundings are classic Jizera Mountains scenery — dense spruce forest, rocky outcrops, and a quiet, slightly mysterious atmosphere far from crowded trails. The summit is crowned by a rock formation called Čertův kámen (Devil's Rock), a small but notable draw for climbers. In winter the area feels remote and untamed due to snow cover and the absence of marked trails; in summer and autumn it's a rewarding target for nature lovers and rock climbers alike.
