Černá skála (1042 m a.s.l.) is a compact but characterful summit in the Žalský hřbet ridge of the western Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). What makes it stand out is a natural rock outcrop right at the top, fitted with stone-carved steps and a metal railing — a small but rewarding scramble that crowns the forest hike perfectly.

The massif is broad and rugged, with steep eastern and western flanks built from metamorphic rocks — mainly mica schists with quartz veins and some gneiss. Scattered around the summit you will find smaller rock formations and numerous slate blocks that give the place a wild, untamed feel. Dense spruce forests cover the slopes year-round: refreshingly cool in summer and wonderfully atmospheric under a blanket of snow in winter. The whole massif falls within the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP).

The peak was historically known in German as 'Schwarze Koppe' or 'Dreistein', a reminder of the rich multicultural heritage of the Krkonoše mountains shared by Czech, Polish and German traditions.
