Borsuczyzny is a modest but rewarding peak in the Gorce Mountains, prized above all for its wide-open panoramas — a rarity in this heavily forested range. The name likely comes from the badger burrows once common in this area.

What sets Borsuczyzny apart from its neighbors is how bare its slopes are, the result of centuries of farming by the residents of Ochotnica Górna. The original forests gave way to fields and pastures, and today the ridge offers sweeping views over the Tatras, the Sądecki Beskids, the Spiš Magura, and the Pieniny. On the northwestern side lies the large, scenic Magurki meadow, with more open grazing land stretching across the southern and eastern slopes. In summer the ridge is sun-drenched and breezy, in autumn the golden slopes contrast beautifully with the dark forested valleys below, and in winter the snow-covered meadows create a striking foreground to the distant Tatra skyline.

• The peak itself lies outside the Gorce National Park, though its western slopes, within the Kędzierski Forest, contain a forest enclave belonging to the park

Worth noting: the name Borsuczyzny is often used for the entire ridge rather than just the summit, so maps and signposts in the area can be a little confusing — adding a small sense of adventure to the exploration.
