Borowa (853 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak in the Wałbrzych Mountains and the Black Mountains range — a boldly shaped summit whose trapezoidal silhouette stands out clearly above the Wałbrzych Basin. Since 2017 it has been crowned by a striking 16-metre observation tower, making it one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the Central Sudetes.

The mountain feels taller than its numbers suggest: steep slopes and a prominent relative elevation give it a commanding presence over the surrounding landscape. Spruce forests line the trails, and young birch thickets have reclaimed old clearings on the southern slopes. The peak lies within the Wałbrzych Sudetes Landscape Park and is built from red rhyolites and dark trachybasalts — reminders of ancient volcanic activity in the region. In winter the snow-covered forest paths offer a completely different, quieter atmosphere.

• Borowa counts towards the Crown of the Sudetes, Crown of the Polish Sudetes and Crown of Lower Silesian Mountains
• The peak marks the highest point within the administrative boundaries of both Wałbrzych and Jedlina-Zdrój

The mountain's older name was Schwarzer Berg — 'Black Mountain' — officially replaced by 'Borowa' in 1949, though the historic name still appears on some vintage maps and in older guidebooks.
