Beskydek (953 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Turzovská vrchovina highlands, sitting quietly on the Slovak–Czech border near the village of Makov. It is a rewarding off-the-beaten-path destination for hikers who enjoy solitude, forest walking, and panoramic border-ridge views.

The summit ridge forms the watershed between the Váh and Morava river basins – eastern slopes drain into the Trojačka stream and on to the Kysuca river, while western slopes feed the Vsetínská Bečva. The summit and some surrounding areas are partially cleared of forest, offering limited but far-reaching views: on a clear day you can spot Lysá hora (1,323 m), Smrk (1,276 m) and Kněhyně (1,257 m) in the Moravian–Silesian Beskids, and even the Malá Fatra, Veľká Rača and the Pilsko massif. In autumn the beech forests blaze with colour; in winter the ridge is blanketed in silence and snow.

Beskydek sits at the meeting point of Slovak and Moravian landscapes, and though it draws few visitors, it rewards those who make the effort with a genuine sense of standing on a wild mountain frontier.
