Babi Kamień (670 m a.s.l.) is a forgotten peak in the Sowie Mountains, once a popular destination for summer visitors from Walim, now rarely visited - making it a real find for anyone seeking quiet trails and sweeping views without the crowds.

The summit forms a small ridge with a leveled crest line and fairly steep slopes. A striking gneiss rock formation, sharing the peak's name, rises at the top, while lower on the southern slope stands another attraction - the Sępik rock, surrounded by numerous rock debris fields. Both formations are protected as nature monuments. The slopes are covered with spruce and beech forests, while the broader parts of the ridge are meadows and pastures where old tree rows and shrub clusters mark former field boundaries. Traces of abandoned farmsteads, visible only as old trees near vanished homesteads, give the place a slightly melancholic atmosphere.

• From the Toszowice hamlet - no marked trail, approach via own route, moderate difficulty

Practical information

• Until the 1950s a red trail led over the summit - today no marked trail passes near the peak
• The ridge and slopes offer views of Walim, Wielka Sowa, the Włodarz massif and the Wałbrzych Mountains

While Babi Kamień remains overshadowed by the more famous peaks of the Sowie Mountains, its solitude and stillness are exactly what make it worth discovering for true explorers.
