Stvolínky Chateau is a modest yet historically rich residence in northern Bohemia, once serving as the summer home of the bishops of Litoměřice. It is not permanently open to the public, so timing a visit around a local cultural event is the best way to see inside its walls.

Built in the early Baroque style on the site of an older Gothic fortress, the chateau impresses with its four-wing layout and two-storey structure. Behind the building lies a park and the Church of All Saints, and visitors can still spot traces of the old moat, once crossed by a bridge. The courtyard, lined with partly glazed arcades, has a distinct charm in every season — golden light in autumn, and a quiet, snow-covered stillness in winter that gives the whole place a fairy-tale feel.

• Stvolínky train station (line 087 from Lovosice to Česká Lípa) — about 1 km to the chateau, easy walk
• Road I/15 from Zahrádky to Kravaře — bus stop near the chateau, from where a red-marked trail leads from Úštěk via Blíževedly and Ronov Castle

• The chateau is not permanently open to visitors
• Occasionally opens during cultural events, such as the local Chateau Festival (Zámecké slavnosti)

An interesting fact: between 1655 and 1664 the original Renaissance manor was rebuilt into a Baroque bishop's residence, and since 2013 the municipality has been steadily restoring the building after decades of neglect during the communist era.
