Vísecká rychta is the largest preserved log-built farmhouse in the Czech Republic — an impressive timber structure that takes visitors straight back to the golden age of village prosperity. Today it houses a lively museum of folk art, where painted furniture and old tools tell the story of the region far better than any book could.

The hamlet of Víska, where the rychta stands, lies on the left bank of the Bobří potok stream, in the quiet countryside near Kravaře. The setting is distinctly rural and peaceful, surrounded by fields and the gentle hills of the Českolipsko area. In summer, the courtyard and surroundings come alive with folk festivals and events, while spring and autumn bring a calmer, more contemplative atmosphere perfect for slow sightseeing.

It's hard to believe that when the museum director rediscovered the building in 1960, it was filled a meter deep with manure and used as a sheep pen — a far cry from the grand, carefully restored landmark you can visit today.
