Ronov is an evocative castle ruin perched atop a hill in the Ralská pahorkatina highlands, northeast of Blíževedla. It's a rewarding destination for hikers who enjoy combining a bit of history with a quiet, scenic climb away from the crowds.

Built on a commanding, hard-to-reach hilltop from local basalt stone, the castle's remains are modest but atmospheric — surrounded by forest, rocky outcrops and a peaceful stillness that feels especially magical in autumn. From the summit you'll enjoy views over Stvolínky, Stranné and Blíževedly. The hill lies within the Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj protected landscape area, adding to its wild charm.

• From Stvolínky or Blíževedly — via a side trail off the red-marked route, moderate difficulty due to the steep final climb onto the rock
• From Kravaře (nearest train station) — follow the green-marked trail to the base of the hill

• The castle ruins are protected as a cultural heritage site of the Czech Republic
• Ronov Hill itself is protected as a natural monument within the Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj area
• A cross and Stations of the Cross were erected on the summit in the 19th century, though little remains of them today

Interestingly, the castle was never captured during the fierce 1444 conflict with the Lusatian Six Towns — its downfall only came later, when Swedish troops burned it during the Thirty Years' War in 1643.
