Grad Šteberk is a modest but atmospheric ruin of a medieval castle, perched on a hill not far from Cerknica. It's a quiet spot for travelers who enjoy stumbling upon forgotten pieces of Slovenian history away from the crowds.

Over the centuries the castle passed through several hands - from the Princes Eggenberg, to the Counts Cobenzl, and finally to the House of Windischgrätz, who held the estate until the end of World War II.
