Oksza Villa is one of the finest wooden mansions in Zakopane, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz himself — the creator of the iconic Zakopane architectural style. Today it houses a branch of the Tatra Museum with a Gallery of 20th-Century Art, so a visit combines a walk through a historic interior with a genuine dose of Podhale art.

The building on Zamoyskiego Street impresses with its steep, sloping roof and richly carved woodwork, blending folk ornamentation with motifs drawn straight from the Tatra Mountains. The interiors are decorated just as carefully as the facade, making Oksza a living textbook of the Zakopane style. Walking through Zakopane on your way to the villa lets you soak up the mountain-town atmosphere — bustling with visitors in summer, dusted with snow and scented with timber in winter.

The villa was originally called Korwinówka, and its current name comes from the family coat of arms of one of its owners. In 2015 it won the Well-Kept Monument award for its exemplary restoration of wooden architecture.
